Human nature's a funny thing, especially if you're Mike Salem. Mike finds himself caught-up in an ever-changing world of shady business deals and corporate politics - a world he once effortlessly kept up with, but one that lately seems to be turning against him.
Then one day, while driving through traffic a bizarre and tragic news story appears on the radio. It's the story of an impoverished inner-city kid, Ra'ul Hernandez, who'd fallen in love with a television show a show he couldn't live without. DINOBOT-5 was the name; a science-fiction series about robot dinosaurs trapped in outer space and their struggle to return to their ancestral home the planet earth.
The Dinobots had put their faith in a savior, and so too had Ra'ul. Each week the reptile robots and their half-man, half-machine messiah delivered hope and understanding to his troubled world. But when DINOBOT-5 suddenly disappeared from the airwaves one day, it signaled the end not just for the Dinobots, but for Ra'ul, as well.
Of course, Mike had never heard anything so ridiculous in all his life. 'How could anyone take a TV show so seriously?' he wondered.
But, Mike would soon discover that Ra'ul's story was actually his own; that what had been given to him with one hand, could be taken away with the other and that the distance between the top and the bottom wasn't as far as it seemed.
