Ipswich Town Uncovered. A football book with a difference. It takes you behind the glory and the cameras and, with only a few holds barred to protect the slightly less than innocent, the authors reveal the best of their stories from the last 50 years. It would be impossible to produce a book like this of the modern game. Technology has meant that little is secret, while the relationship between managers, players and journalists is nothing like it used to be. We now live in an age dominated by electronic gadgets, computers and mobile phones. Press conferences are regimented, permission is sought to speak to players and even questions sometimes have to be seen in advance by the club's Press office! It's all a far cry from Dave and Neal's experience back in the day, when players and journalists regularly socialised having a game of golf or going out for a meal and a beer or three. A lot of what was said remained "in-house". No longer! Now two of our greatest authorities on the post Sir Alf era reveal a treasure chest of stories which never made the papers. This book offers a fascinating insight into the personalities of the various managers at Portman Road over the past 50 years.
