H. Rider Haggard was an English novelist and Victorian writer of African frontier adventure novels. He initiated many of the now common themes of the lost civilisation and lost continent, including the ancient magic and curses, secret chambers and mysticism. Together with Arthur Conan Doyle, Haggard is considered as one of the founder of Lost World literary genre. 'King Solomon's Mines' is a historical novel by Haggard that is the first in the series about Allan Quatermain. Allan Quatermain is a famous hunter and adventurer who is aked by Sir Henry Curtis to help him in the searches of his missing brother. So they take a ship and sail to Africa. As it is clear from the title our gentlemen are destined to find King Solomon's Mines a place where, according to the Holy Bible, the huge amount of treasures is hidden. But to find them the adventurers must go through the number of dnagers and hardships.
