Writing as a 26 year-old Chicano graduate student at Berkeley in 1971, Macias reviews the political history of the Chicano/Mexican community from 1948-1971. Discussed are the post World War II Mexican/Chicano organizations, the Red Scare, Early Stirrings, Delano & the Huelga, the Alianza, the birth of the Chicano Student Movement (1967-68), the early Street Organizations (1967-68), Crusade for Justice, Chicano Movement (1969-1971), Street Organizations (1969-70), Aztlan, and La Raza Unida party. There are a 2024 Foreword and Epilogue; otherwise, the manuscript remains as written in 1971.
