Laminitis

Laminitis. If you own a horse chances are you will be confronted with this disease one day. When it happens (again) and your horse, pony or donkey is unable to move you will feel completely desperate. You will want nothing more but to help.

This horse owner's checklist for cure and prevention will provide a helpful overview of your horse's current situation. By using this checklist you will be better equipped to help your beloved horse, poney or donkey to recover from, or avoid this crippling disease.

You will notice that the question about 'Hoof protection' in the following checklist does not include an option for therapeutic shoes. This is not for nothing. Shoes have so many disadvantages that their use is strongly discouraged. For this reason, the scope of 'Laminitis : understanding, cure, prevention' concerns only barefoot and hoof boot solutions.

The checklist is designed to be filled in by you as the horse owner together with your hoof care provider and/or veterinarian. Don't forget to give them a copy of the checklist that you filled in together.
