The French edition of the children's book -The Adventures of Captain Bear and the crew of the Marie Grace. The Captain and crew take cargo up and down the sparkling river . The stories are set in a whimsical and imaginary landscape of trees and villages and forests, all populated by animals who live and work along the river. This first book in a series begins when the Pond-Willowing Band hire the Marie Grace [ a robust canal barge pulled along by brother and sister carthorses -Emil and Elodie- to take them to the concert at Bough -Willowby. While getting supplies they meet Michel Marmot who has an alarming story about the concert and an adventure begins.The book is written and illustrated by P.G.Rob [ an award winning artist] in fine watercolours and is set in the canals and waterways of old Europe.
P.G.Rob and husband [ a sea captain have spent much time on boats and canalbarges and learnt of the early cargo barges pulled by cart horses. The stories have evolved from these travels.P.G.Rob has a particular love of the big horses as some of her ancestors too the first clydesdale horses from mainland Scotland to the Shetland islands.
