Jim Brandt grew up in a devout Christian family with good role models. His mother's family was Presbyterian, and his father's family was Baptist. Although he attended church regularly as a youth, he wasn't as consistent as an adult. Brandt always had faith, but sometimes he let other priorities prevail. It was not until much later he began to see how crucial faith is. In Life Enhancement with Jesus, Brandt documents the benefits of faith in God against the backdrop of his many experiences.
