Jim Brandt grew up in a devout Christian family with good role models. His mother's family was Presbyterian, and his father's family was Baptist. Although he attended church regularly as a youth, he wasn't as consistent as an adult. Brandt always had faith, but sometimes he let other priorities prevail.
