Bastian's world is ruled by a trauma he can't even remember. Each day he struggles with Borderline Personality Disorder and a voice in his head telling him most people are vastly different, most people know who they are, that most people know where they came from. Then Bastian meets Kat who shatters the picture of his future world, and slowly starts putting the puzzle pieces back together again, in ways he never thought possible. But is it enough to show him the future he never thought he'd see is brighter than he thought possible?

Kat has a plan. Kat has a list of important things to do. Kat doesn't do all the lovey-dovey things teenage girls usually do. Kat has known one thing for an absolute fact since she was twelve, all she's ever wanted was to kill herself. In the halls of Sunny Hills Mental Ward, Kat meets a boy so hurt and confused it rattles her world. He doesn't fix her Major Depressive Disorder, but he does take the sharp edges off so she can catch her breath sometimes. He does show her she's not alone. Bastian shows her that even in her bleak world there's always a pinprick of hope glowing in the dark. But is it enough to light her way?

In the worlds of the Mental Health community, academia, and even in the government of the country a debate rages on about mental health and neurodivergence. What is it? Who has it? What can be done to curb this health crisis that one and four Americans contend with everyday? Amid these debates two unlikely protagonist struggle through these issues, with the difference that while others talk about and debate these things, Kat and Bastian live them everyday and it's about time the world starts to listen, or they will make a sound that everyone will hear.
