Literature as a Culture, Expression, & an Academic Field of Study

Literature is a big screen that showcases life. Therefore, it will not be out of place to say that literature is life. This is because people's way of life is showcased or told in and/or through literature. Literature is people's culture and tradition told either as fiction or nonfiction. History has been told and preserved in and through literature.

Literature has metamorphosed within the years. It started as an act- culture, tradition, etc., that is, people's way of life, then to art or expression, however, first expressed orally, and later in writing as writing and alphabets for writing were invented. Today, literature has surpassed been just a culture, oral expression, literate- able to read and write to something very special and beyond satisfactory explanation.
