My concussed brain has fewer energy reserves, which leaves me feeling tired a lot more than most who do not live with the effects of a brain injury. Chronic fatigue can be overwhelming and feel as though every single limb in your body is being weighed down. Even if there is a desire to do something, the effects of fatigue can debilitate your abilities to think, focus or move. Fatigue should not be mistaken for laziness, as someone living with fatigue has no control over their energy levels.
BRAVE is all about the small acts of courage needed to carry on and move forward. To me, being brave is knowing how to pace myself and taking sufficient rest when it is needed.
