This is based on my Aunt Jennie's diary from 1930-1931. She was a farm wife/writer in northern Minnesota as a newlywed. I have included the diary entries which are all in her words. Then I wrote stories and poems as I imagined Aunt Jennie might have written them. She was a writer for farm magazines, religious periodicals, even the New Yorker. There are rich details in her diary. She kept track of money they spent and money they earned from the products of their farm. She also was a nurse of sorts and was called to treat children and adults. She assisted with births as well. There is mention of many neighbors and her family members who lived four hours away. Many people in the area of Shevlin, Minnesota (which is west of Bemidji) would likely recognize names of the people my Aunt Jennie and Uncle Will Klinger associated with. I have received positive responses from readers pre-publication. They seem to connect with the diary, the stories and poems and come to care about the couple.
