Life, Addiction, Business & Relationship coach Shane Cuthbert's third instalment of his 'WORLD FAMOUS', 'What Drives, Motivates & Inspires Us' book series continues to build upon the knowledge, ideas and understanding learned throughout previous previous instalments in the series.

This book is completely dedicated to the many theories of motivation and the attainment of motivation as a skill or something that you can learn. Many people throughout the world are struggling with finding the motivation to create lasting change, whether that is in the small day to day tasks and the achievement of smaller personal life goals or with doing much more complicated and difficult tasks. As a Life, Addiction, Business & Relationship coach, published author and motivational speaker Shane Cuthbert has developed many tips, tools, tricks and techniques for his many clients and followers worldwide seeking motivation. Shane answers the questions, 'what is motivation', 'how do we get motivated' and 'how do we stay motivated'.

We begin looking at the most popular theories of motivation and look at what type of drive was activated within each of those theories.

We discover the 'expectancy theory' and what it means to expect a particular outcome, manifesting your goals, dreams and desires so that they actually come to fruition. We learn about the 'arousal theory' of motivation and how our levels of arousal and excitement can be used as a tool to motivate ourselves towards reaching our goals. We learn that the motivational theories of 'incentive' are about the rewards of outcomes and they can be either financial or physical and also the theory of 'instinct' which explains those gut feelings we sometimes have and why some animals migrate.

We discover psychologist Abraham Maslow and his motivational theory called the hierarchy of needs, and another well known psychiatrist and holocaust survivor Victor Frankyl. According to Maslow all of our needs are to be met in an ordered fashion, there is a hierarchy in place and some needs such as finding food, water and shelter must be met before chasing other needs such as social belonging and self actualisation.

We produce and discuss some world renowned studies including the original candle problem or 'candle stick study', and Glucksberg's revised version of the study which eincluded the addition of incentives and how based off his research we are better able to understand why in order to complete goals and tasks we must have both confidence and competence.

Similarly Dunning and Kruger created a test to display the roles of confidence and competence in the classroom and concluded that overall competent students tend to underestimate their performance because they are perhaps more aware of the skills needed to perform the task and have a better understanding of their own abilities which means that the students were acknowledging the difficulty of each test, whereas the incompetent students overestimated their performance because they were not aware of the difficulty of the particular tests presented.

This can be summarised by the famous saying 'You don't know, what you don't know'.

Lastly we list the four identified stages of competence and develop an understanding as to what role these stages play in our ability to complete tasks and maintain the motivation levels necessary to complete the tasks.

So if you would like to know more about you can get not only seek and find motivation but maintain that motivation long term when it comes to achieving your goals and completing tasks, this book as part of the 'What Drives, Motivates & Inspires Us' series is for you!
