Why did assassins come for Magnus, Lark, and me on Earth? Did I save the other world of Tumoons? Maybe not.
Foreign agents and Wallstreet thugs tried to kidnap us for the gold I brought back from the other world. It's priceless here.
Do I still have the ability to control the vast magical power of the Medallion? Their stories say I don't.
Maybe I should start at the beginning.
I'm an ordinary US Army retiree. A few months ago, now it seems like a lifetime, I returned from my exploits in a distant universe. Never dreamed I would find a Medallion with mythical magic powers, be transported to another world, defeat an evil sorcerer and his armies, and come back a younger man. Before that, me with magic. The notion was absurd. Sheer lunacy.
Half of the Medallion is safely hidden with Magnus, the Gatekeeper between the universes. The other piece lay with a friend. Here it's an inert metal trinket. There. When the two pieces interlock into one, it's the most powerful magical artifact in their world.
But hey, now I'm living the grand life of a snowbird. Summers in New England and winters in Florida, married to a beautiful Elven princess, wealthy with gold coins from their world, and I'm years younger.
