Mandela Conquers The Cut

Walter Lomax wrote the essays in MANDELA CONQUERS THE CUT while serving 40 years in "The Cut," a notorious prison in Maryland, for a crime he did not commit; he was exonerated a decade ago and released. Lomax was released by Judge Gail Rasin after he had served 40 years for a crime he could not possibly have committed. The essays were editorials he wrote for the prison newpaper, THE CONQUERER. Lomax was subsequently exonerated and received financial reparation, which he continues to use as founder of The Initiative for Restorative justice. He and Judge Rasin have become fast friends. The editor and publisher of Mandela Conquers the Cut (both print and digital editions), Clarinda Harriss, has also become a friend of both Walter Lomax and his remarkable family, whose unflagging support enabled him to "keep the faith" and survive his ordeal without the bitterness one might expect.
