While on assignment in North Korea, Maria learns that her parents survived a crash of their private planebut it wasn't an accident, and the pilot was killed. A substitute co-pilot hijacked the plane and parachuted from it, taking $4m in cash her parents had just borrowed.
In a seemingly unrelated incident, a child is abducted into a human trafficking ring, but the child's relationship to Maria links the two events.
Maria and her agency team locate the co-pilot hiding in Panama, and they determine that the incident was orchestrated by members of a local cartel. As the investigation unfolds, they learn that it goes right to the top of the Sinaloa Cartel, considered to be the largest criminal organization in the world. Can Maria and the team take on such a powerful adversary and stay alive?
