Touching his chin, I directed his gaze to me. "Open your eyes," I whispered, suddenly feeling that my voice was too loud for the intimacy of the moment.

"What if I want to be ravished by my Mate?" I asked, for the first time using the word, and acknowledging our bond.
His eyes shot open, and his burning gaze landed on me. He took in my face as if he wanted to memorize it. I scratched the scruff of his cheek, earning another low growl from him. I smiled, loving the way his eyes reflected his inner turmoil. He wanted to mate me, but he held himself back because I had asked.
"Kiss me," I said as my lips were only a hairbreadth away from his.
His breath smelled like smoky whiskey and pine needles. I opened my mouth to ask him again, as his mouth descended on mine. The kiss was everything I had ever dreamed of and at the same time, so much more. Sparks flew underneath my eyelids as I closed my eyes without thinking. His lips were warm and firm under mine. The kiss immediately turned heated as he used his tongue to grant access to my mouth. I moaned as I met his tongue with mine. Our kiss was like a dance of passion between two people that had been dying to meet their partner.
