Memories from Australia Book 1 begins with a trip requiring a rather long drive up the West coast of Australia: the cost of Western Australia in fact. It commences with a few photographs of the Nullarbor Plain and a train stop on the journey from Melbourne in the far south-east to Perth in the far west, and also to the south. A little of the city of Perth is shown before the attention moves to the city of Fremantle, a port which saw many immigrants see their first view of the continent. The attention shifts to the coast south of Perth and the tourist attractions (geographic) of the hinterland east of Cape Naturaliste in the form of the limestone caves. There are images of the famed forests of the area and coastal view of the south coast of Western Australia. The trip involved driving from the south of Western Australia (Albany on the Great Australian Bight) to Darwin in the north of the Northern Territory (about 4,550 km). Although it was a really nice trip, there were relatively few stops which were the only chance of getting a photographic record. The first stopping point was Geraldton on the west coast (almost as far wet as you can drive). The scenery here was coastal and provided some stunning sunset views. Shark Bay was visited for the stromatolites and the Cardiid Cockleshell beach. The resort of Monkey Mia allowed more stunning views of the coast and the chance to see the nearly tame dolphins swimming very near the shore. After a stopover at Carnarvon the trip moved to the Dampier Peninsula one of the world's biggest sources of iron ore. Here the countryside is distinctly rocky! The next stop was Broome in the northern parts of the state. From there we drove to Derby a really small town in the "Far North". Here we got close to our first natural Bomb tree: in flower too. From Derby our road headed east towards the border with the Northern Territory, basically skirting the south of the famous Kimberly region. We stopped at. Small country town (Fitzroy Crossing: population about 1,300) before reaching Kununurra, nearly a city in terms of population (5,400) compared with everywhere else since leaving Perth. Then there is a series of images taken during a scenic flight over the Lake Argyle (lake and diamond mine) to the wonderfully bizarre Purnululu (or Bungle Bungle Range); also known as the beehives. Then the book covers a scenic flight over the northern coastline and then back to Kununurra via the Kimberly region. After leaving Kunurra the trip reached Katherine in the Northern Territory and a visit to the stunning Katherine Gorge (by boat). The book is meant to provide a view of such trip with images taken by an amateur photographer with amateur equipment where the main purpose of the trip was to see 'stuff' of this large state. There is a 100 MB limit on eBooks and so the number of images in the book is limited. Hopefully readers will get a 'taste' of this amazingly varied countryside occupying the entire west side of the largest island on earth and the 6th largest country and 7 largest continent. Have a read and enjoy the 130 still photographs each with an accompanying page of minimal description. The book is like a really rapid trip along some 3,000 km of road from Perth.
