Memories from Australia Book 3

Memories from Australia Book 3, follows the second book by dealing with the trip beginning at Darwin in the Northern Territory and covers the return trip to Melbourne by car down the east coast of Australia. To get to the east coast from Darwin by car it is necessary to retrace the route north by travelling south until the (only) road to the west can be accessed. The first part of the book has some image of Darwin and a crocodile farm visit. Then it is off south to stop first at - for fuel -at the Barkly Homestead on the Barkly Highway (1,151 km from Darwin). There are few towns on the Barkly Highway which takes you to Townsville in North Queensland. And those places can be really small. Worth getting a perspective of what rural life is like even for 'townies'. Camooweal (population 250), Richmond (population 650: dinosaur country) and Charters Towers (population 8,000) were the places (out of a total fo 6 towns) where there was a chance to get out and take photographs. The next stop was Townsville (1,500 from the turn-off from the Stuart Highway in the NT. Most of the book covers the trips north around Townsville, to the north at Cairns, a side trip to the Barrier Reef (Green Island) , and then a train trip to the Atherton Tableland, the Lava-tubes at Undara. From the north of the State we stopped off at Hervey Bay with a cruise to see the Humpback Whales off Fraser Island. The remainder of the book covers a 'quick' visit to the Lamington National park in south-east Queensland. The remainder of the to Melbourne is not covered in the book (it only takes 2 days). The book is meant to provide a view of such trip with images taken by an amateur photographer with amateur equipment where the main purpose of the trip was to see 'stuff' of this large state. There is a 100 MB limit on eBooks and so the number of images in the book is limited. Hopefully readers will get a 'taste' of this amazingly varied countryside occupying the centre of the largest island on earth and the 7th largest continent. Have a read and enjoy the 115 still images which show some of the 'outback' scenery along the 5,500 km of road from Darwin to Melbourne, but dealing with some of the outstanding sites and sights on the way.
