It is your last adventure with your merfriends, and you're going to visit the biggest body of water yet: the ocean. Do you know your beach flags? Do you know what high and low tide are? Do you listen to the posted warnings or do what everyone else on the beach is doing?

Topics covered in this book follow the advice of the American Red Cross and Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The topics include:

- Not swimming in moving water
- Reading all the posted signs at the beach
- Rip currents, undertow, and shorebreak
- Commonly used beach flags
- The importance of checking the weather when near water
- What to do if pulled out to sea (though this can not and should not take the place of swimming lessons)
- Knowing the meaning and time of high tide and low tide
- Following posted warnings even when you see others ignoring them
