1.0 INTRODUCTION

The 21st century is enjoying a rapid growth and development of Human Capital in all fields of profession.It is expected that by 2030 the number of degree holders globally will reach 300 million (OECD,2019).This therefore means that there will be also a huge number of those with Certificate and Diploma qualifications.This growth of global human capital is giving the military formations a huge advantage to only concentrate on its primary role by investing in Training soldiers on courses that are only directly related to combating terrorism and any form of national external aggression and source personnel to perform all the secondary tasks from the civilian sector.

The 21st century is facing the biggest insecurity challenge of the rise of terrorist groups that have a sophisticated warfare technology.In addition,the global rise of powerful and wealthy politicians willing to keep power or take power by force by funding the terrorist groups to instil fear is another factor increasing global insecurity.Further still,the rise of Nations that want to attain global superiority by attacking their neighbours to show their power and might is a new trend of global insecurity threat that can transform to the Unknown global serious problem.These constant challenges of insecurity means that soldiers Retention coupled by Attracting more and more young soldiers to join the military is very critical.To succeed against all these security threats, the military needs a body of commanders that is Intelligent enough to think outside the box and a body of soldiers that is extremely Loyal to the military and that considers the military as their only Employer of Choice.Employee Retention is a total commitment of an organization to having an excellent culture on its Human Resource Management Practices (CIPD,2021).

The ability of a military formation to have a sophisticated warfare technology does not alone enable the military to win war (Cuglar, 2009).It therefore means that the role of military soldiers in keeping a nation safe is getting more and more important to every nation.The training of young soldiers should be made quick and excellent.Military formations have always invested alot in the training of soldiers but despite the massive and aggressive training the rate of exit of young soldiers to civilian sector continues to be a huge challenge being faced by most nations.This is because training alone is not enough to enable retention of these soldiers.It is well noted that many young people get very excited to join military right after high school.The questions are, Why is it that after joining the military these young people want to quit less than 10 years of service? Why do others leave and want to come back as Reserve Unit and not active soldiers? Why is this lack of job satisfaction being clearly portrayed?

The highest level of Soldiers performance appraisal is that all soldiers have a duty to serve 24 hours 7 days a week by laying down their own life for the safety of the Nation.This is a career role which is not equal to any monetary reward value.It therefore means that every soldier have an eq
