Miss Me, Miss Me Not

I'm watching her. Her every frown. Her every move. Does she remember me? Does she miss me?

People say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Bullshit. At seventeen, the world went gray when I witnessed the love of my life die right before my eyes. Now, at nineteen and still haunted by that day, I ended up in the arms of my brother's best friend. Just a one-night act of desperation. Gavert City? It's a constant, brutal reminder of what I've lost: my dreams, my future, everything. I'm not ready for college or for anything else.

That's why I'm headed to my grandmother's bed & breakfast in Maryland. A place where my family hopes the gentle sway of horse therapy will mend my shattered soul. But of course, he's there my brother's infuriatingly charming best friend. Sure, he knows horses, but he doesn't get me. Or does he? Yet, as days bleed into nights, it becomes clear: it's not him I should be scared of.
