Mom, Daughter Swap 1

Her husband, Javaid, had sent his young daughter to Pakistan to marry a policeman's son. The policeman was carrying on a family feud and this was the reason he left his country for the US. The standards and way of thinking couldn't be so easily left behind. Ignoring letters and emails from the school wasn't a good idea, and when he was called to the school to explain why his daughter wasn't attending, he panicked. Latching on to his wife's idea and making it his, he found it worked too well.

His wife, Ayesha, had been wearing her daughter's clothes when he was out to work. She chose the most decent outfits so as not to show off her body like a teenager might, but even then Javaid would be furious if he found out. He expected her to wear the traditional clothes from back home.

When out shopping with her daughter, Ayesha had been mistaken for Amina's sister by the girl's friends. When the girl carried on the ruse, Ayesha was too embarrassed to correct the mistake but it did no harm. They both found it amusing, with Ayesha finding it refreshing to experience the freedom American teenagers had. She was too submissive to join in completely, though keeping quiet, listening to the girls gossip was enlightening.

When her husband instated she come to a meeting with him she became frightened of the authorities, hardly able to speak, letting them make the decisions for her. The authorities thought she was at risk of being sent abroad to be married off to a foreigner. Before Javaid and his wife realised what was happening, Ayesha was sent to a boarding school for her safety.

Even in school Ayesha had more freedom to express herself an enjoyed the school work. She was too frightened to point out the authorities mistake. Another mistake was when she was registered as an eighteen-year-old, which was very fortunate. The only good thing were the friends she made, who's example encouraged her to behave like an irresponsible teenager.
