Murder is (Mostly) Academic is a "hybrid" type of historical fiction with an ethnographic twist, based on loosely linked together mostly factual events that occurred in the late-1990s that have been used to craft a murder mystery that may or may not be fictional. The story takes place along the Wasatch Front at a fictional college and a fictional university (neither of which are all that fictional, though their names have been changed along with those of the characters in the story). A predatory university president drops dead at a faculty get together, and as the investigation by our amateur sleuth moves along, we may learn why and how. Was it a clever murder by members of the Ladies Sewing Circle and Terrorist Society? Or a scorned and abused lover?
