My First Book of Bugs

My First Book of Bugs is targeted for the little readers who love the insects but cannot read the popular Souvenirs Entomologiques by Jean-Henri Fabre. A new impressive book by Gong Ruping renowned for her poem writing for children, it includes the wonderful English translation given by Josh Stenberg, a linguistic scholar of Harvard University. The book will serve as the first window for the children to look at the insects' world. It has five merits: eye-catching pictures of lifelike insects, unforgettable short poems full of love and fun, easy vivid knowledge to ignite the imagination, enlightening questions, and idiomatic faithful translation good for bilingual teaching. Mr. Fan Fajia, a well-known poet, scholar and literary critic posted "I like this picture book a lot" in his blog immediately after he read it.

The book has been well received since its publication. Within a year after it came out it was ranked among China's 100 Best Books for Children and The Excellent Works to Popularize Science in Helongjiang Province. In 2006, it won the second most votes during the running for Shanghai's Good Children's Books at the Shanghai International Juvenile Book Fair. The book is now held in the permanent collection of the International Young People's Library at Munich, Germany and the Princeton University Children's Library in the United States.
