First published in May 1845, 'Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass' is a memoir and treatise on abolition written by famous orator and former male slave, Frederick Douglass. In factual detail, the text describes the events of his life and is deemed to be one of the most significant pieces of literature to fuel the abolitionist movement of the early 19th century in the United States and highly compelling work for the anti-slavery movement.It this autobiography, he describes his thriving progress from slavery to freedom and makes it parallel to his liberating journey from illiteracy to literacy.
