King Solomon said, "I looked and saw all oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed - and they had no comforter, power was on the side of their oppressors." Whilst most nations are not under war or civil strife and slavery has been has been greatly eradicated, yet oppression still exists. Solomon ruled a very peaceful Israel, for that reason, the oppression he saw must have been workplace oppression.

Why should workplace oppression exist at all? King Solomon continues to answer, "there is an evil I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises from a ruler: fools are put in many high positions while the wise occupy the low ones. I have seen slaves on a horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves"

You can clearly see that oppression exists since human beings are not efficient at allocating resources. King Solomon termed it as an error. That is, persons who do not deserve certain positions at work are given the positions. They became rich and strong. They drive luxury cars (being on a horseback). On the other hand, persons who should hold those high offices (the wise), struggle in life (walk on foot). The human error King Solomon saw, results to weak organization structures.

Weak organization structures make the wise or deserving persons (who are denied what they warrant) to have wars at the workplace. Unfortunately, the less deserving ones would have grown so powerful and rich that the deserving ones are oppressed and they have no comforter; because power is on the side of their oppressors ( the less deserving ones).

Weak organization structures are evident when; there are frequent transfers or turnover of personnel which makes it difficult for co-workers to bond and become familiar with the routine. There is lack of clear goals which destroys sense of unity amongst co-workers. The boss is unqualified - an insecure boss would devote a substantial amount of his time defending his position instead of leading. The staffs do not understand where their responsibility begin and where they end. There is no free flow of information and hurt feelings remain unattended to.

Weak organization structures as a result of man's error breeds jealousy, discrimination, prejudice, anger and many other vices. This book recognizes that while organizations exists to serve an important role in the society and contributes to order and discipline, man is to error. Consequently, some people would still face workplace war even in the most esteemed and prestigious organizations. The book for that reason, prescribes ways they can navigate or cope with these wars.
