Raye Wynn has been mourning the death of her husband, Dr. Keith Wynn. He was an engineer who was working on a secret project when he knew he had little time left to live after being diagnosed with cancer. When Raye is called in to his lab by his former research partner she is ill prepared for what would be waiting for her there. Keith was working on a project inspired by his wife. He didn't want her to have to be alone after his death. Raye has now begun to accept Keir into her life. She moves him into the house she once shared with her late husband. After a few adjustments to Keir, he is now able to be fully functional to her. Raye learns that she doesn't just need a physical companion, she needs one for her emotionally. In return, Keir learns to be more human.
