If you ask anyone who has tried to lose weight, you'll usually hear the same answer: it's not always easy or linear. There are so many different diets and eating regimens to pick from, and that's before you even consider what kind of activity you want to perform.
One of the most popular weight loss programs available today? Noom. The app-based platform is a fitness and weight loss program and app that claims to help people "stop dieting" and get "life-long results." (According to Forbes, it has been downloaded more than 50 million times since its debut in 2016.)
Noom claims to be different from other weight reduction applications that simply tell you what to eat and how to exercise. Noom approaches healthy living from a psychological standpoint, encouraging adherents to make daily behavioral changes to help them lose weight and keep it off.
However, while Noom is big on language that informs users they won't have to diet on the company's plan, there has been some concern that Noom may be just another restrictive eating plan. After you fill out your goals, Noom will assign you a targeted calorie count to try to meet for any given day, as well as some information on how to improve your behaviorand some critics have said that those target calorie counts can be alarmingly low. Noom has also designated certain foods as to be avoided, which some claim might be triggering for individuals with a history of disordered eating.
