The primary aim of On the Nature of Being is to offer an explanation for how the subjective experience, specifically consciousness, can exist as a natural aspect of the physical world.
The explanation works on a view that consciousness and existence are closely related. Though essentially an ontological argument it is, nevertheless, important to note that what is said has no effect on modern physics. However, for many of us, our understanding of what it means for something to exist at all will have to change.
With developments in artificial intelligence moving ever faster, now is the time to reach a general understanding of how consciousness fits with our world.
