Grieving the recent death of his wife, USAF Colonel John Slade dives wholeheartedly into his work to help ease his mourning. With best friend, Major Robert Holden, both men are assigned replenishment flights to McMurray Station in Antarctica, flying an LC-130 transport plane. It is during heated interactions with the stations irrational director, Alexis Smith, that their lives suddenly take a downward spiral as an attempt is made on their lives.
