Original Sins

Damien has been tasked with introducing sin into Eden. Will he be able to follow orders and take Eve out of paradise, or will his conscience get in the way?

Excerpt:
I snap my fingers and a lit Lucky Strike cigarette appears between my lips. I don't need a real cigarette to get buzzed, but with e-cigarettes I miss out on the smoke, which is most of the point for me; it reminds me of home.
My name is Damien and Hell is my life. I've only been on Earth for a few hours and I already regret accepting this mission. I should only be down here a few more days, but Mephistopheles, my higher-up, hinted that it might become a more permanent position. He's one of the old guard, who still remembers Heaven and part of him wishes he were still there
Not me though. I don't remember anything before Hell, although I remember a lot of things after. The only reason I accepted the mission was that Mephistopheles was so pleased to be able to give it to me and I didn't want to disappoint him.
My plan is to do my job quickly and get back before Mephistopheles can arrange for a longer assignment for me here on Earth.
I peer through the thick underbrush and catch sight of my target. Her name is Eve and it's my job to keep her diverted until my counterpart, Lilith, can get into position with Adam. After that it's all improvisation. I take a deep drag of the cigarette and stub it out on a tree trunk.
I see Eve stand up and exit the clearing, which means it's time to go. I can't see Lilith, but I know that she's around here somewhere, preparing to work her magic on the unsuspecting Adam.
