Bina is a family member of Garry - a sufferer of compulsive staring. For the purposes of maintaining the patient's anonymity, I am using the alias Bina and the patient is referred to by the alias Garry. I attended much of Garry's treatment and supported him through to recovery. Please note that I do not have any professional qualifications in counseling, psychology or psychiatry. The knowledge of this issue has been gathered from my experience of observing Garry's recovery through therapy, along with my discussions with other sufferers that I have spoken with mainly via online platforms.
Garry is a straight professional that suffered from OCD as it relates to an obsession of staring at people's private body parts, particularly the groin region of men and breast region of women. The fixation, which I term as "compulsive staring" through the book, was particularly acute in work situations and eventually expanded to impact her social life, family life and her ability to function. Garry decided to work with me on documenting her experiences with overcoming compulsive staring many years after recovering. You are not alone and there is lot's of options to get on a path to recovery, but this is ultimately a fear that only you can conquer!
