In Andalucia the nineteenth century, the young Pepita Jimenez-Salvaora is bound by her aunt to marry the usurer Gumersindo, widowed during their wedding banquet. Following the funeral of her husband, Pepita is sought by a count and the landowner Pedro. However, she is attracted to young Luis, who returns to his hometown to spend a vacation before be priest.
