Pray Like Hannah

"Why doesn't God answer my prayers?"

A tremendous example of the power of prayer is found in the opening chapter of the Biblical book of 1 Samuel. Hannah was the first of two sister wives and barren. In the times of Israel, it was believed that God closed the womb of childless women, as they were recognized as a gift and a sign of his blessing. Therefore to not give birth to life was viewed as a curse.

It can be disheartening to want to become pregnant with purpose and produce while others around you have seemingly figured it out and continue to excel beyond measure, oblivious to your hurt, shame, and disappointment. You may even feel as if God has left you and is ignoring your prayers.

This guided prayer journal examines Hannah's desire to give birth to a physical child through the lens of those seeking answered prayer for one particular thing. Whether it be to birth a vision or dream, a job promotion, to start a business, write a book, produce a movie, develop a clothing line - whatever it is that you want to see come to life, be inspired to never give up, even when you feel like every door has been closed to your dream.
