J. Glenn Gould interprets the atonement that took place on the Cross in his work The Precious Blood of Christ. The book first started as a lecture series and was then written down for publication. Gould "quotes from Lutherans, Calvinists, Anglicans, and Wesleyans" as it is his belief that no one theory can fully encompass the work that was done on the Cross. According to William M. Greathouse, who at the time of the book's publication was the Dean of Religion at Trevecca Nazarene College, this book "is a scholarly, yet simple and direct, treatment of the atonement." The author is well-versed on the subject and brings insight from many other works in the field.
