Psychological Safety Culture in the Workplace

After a few months of being underemployed, I was able to secure a better placement in a consulting firm. Everything looks beautiful from afar. Little did I know that I was in for a ride.
My first meeting with the Chief Operations Officer (COO), who happens to be the wife of the CEO and my direct boss, went well. Although I saw some signals, the enthusiasm for a new placement made me dismiss it quickly.
Interestingly, I later had access to the staff files (both former and current members of the staff), and the staff turnout was alarming. This aroused my curiosity. On a deeper search, I discovered that my predecessor was sacked a week before my resumption. It was there and then I realized the reason for my urgent employment.
In my subsequent meetings with my direct boss, I was not as lucky as I was in our first meeting. The evidence is clearer now that this workplace lacks psychological safety. This explains the reason for the high staff turnover. All members of staff are apprehensive and walk on eggshells whenever the COO is around.

Every single mistake comes with great consequences, workers are afraid to express themselves or willingly take any calculated risk in the workplace. Eventually, the business suffers from a lack of psychological safety in the workplace.

Other concepts such as mental health, emotional safety, and accountability, to mention a few, were included.
