Despite all odds, the rag-tag human diplomatic party, led by Chief Justice Alba Espina, has been rescued and granted asylum by the yibo government. But they're not in the clear yetwith yibo sentiment turning against humans, Alba will have to use every bit of skill and acumen she's gained over her lifetime in politics to not only keep herself and her friends alive, but to save the captive survivors of the diplomatic ship who are still stranded in hostile territory. And even with every skill Alba can bring to bear, that may not be possible without the help of the charming young assassin who, the last time Alba saw her, was threatening to slit Alba's throat.
In the meantime, field-scientist Aran Romeu is in a race against time to save his friend before the raider crew who's taken them prisoner decides his friend is more useful as a meal than a hostage. On the plus side, Aran has an enthusiastic raider captain and an eccentric raider scientist on his side. On the minus side, he has no damn idea what he's doing ...
