This book is a combined character studies of Ruth and Esther - the two women who have books in the Bible named after them. In Ruth, the biblical world finds it difficult to expain why, and how a Moabite woman could dream of putting her trust in the God of Israel, no matter the cost to her. As a Moabite child, born and bred in paganism to serve gods and idols, she turns an adult, meets the Hebrew Mahlon, she becomes intrigued by the man's morality and good manners; she eventually falls in love with him, they get married, and she adapts his lifestyle. Sadly, though, death parts them both. Ruth, now a widow remains closely attached to her already-widowed mother-in-law, Naomi, who also returns a bunch of loves. They both move to Juda, and Ruth finds a comfortable home in the house of Boaz. Out of love, trust and modesty, Ruth is remembered as the mother of Obed, grand mother of Jesse, and great grandmother of David, the most notable King of Israel. The once empty woman of Moab, beaming with fullness and joy in Israel.

Esther, born Hadassah in Hebrew was carried away with her family in slavery to a foreign land. In addition to being an orphan, she lived as unknown, humble and respectful Jewish girl. Through the unseen hands of the God of Israel, Esther, climbing on the shoulders of her uncle, Mordecai, became the wife of the Persian King, Xerxes, and Queen of the vast Empire of Persia. Through her character of humility, modesty, respect and godliness, the unknown Hadassah worked to save the Jewish population in Persia from total annihilation. Her action led to the commemoration of the Jewish festival of Purim.

Both Ruth and Esther began in emptiness, but ended up in fullnes and joy.
