Recovery

The phone rang, creating a contact that I didn't want to have, telling me I was named in the will of a man I had despised for years, whose actions had devastated my family. He was directly responsible for the disappearance of my father. I had no wish even to be discussing him, dead or alive. I stood frozen, reliving memories of the day I came home from school to find Police cars in the driveway and my mother in tears. Dad was nowhere in sight. He had blown me a kiss that morning, as he always did when he dropped me at school. I never saw him again. I didn't understand then and to be honest I still don't understand how a person can walk away from all they supposedly hold dear. But now it seems that the past has come hurtling back into my life and I have no idea how I'm going to deal with it.
