Meet The Author

Carole Townsend is a columnist for the Gwinnett Daily Post, the second largest newspaper in Georgia and a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in Ladies Home Journal and Teen Magazine. She has made several appearances on Radio and television in the past year including CNN and Fox, NBC, CBS News affiliates in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Townsend has also been interviewed and quoted in the LA Times, Aniston Star, Erie Times and several smaller newspapers and magazines She has been described in her writing style as a cross between Lewis Grizzard and Erma Bombeck. She has established a reputation as one of the up-and-coming writers in the humor genre and has earned a national following.

Her second book titled "Red Lipstick and Clean Underwear" takes a humorous, honest and poignant look at the advice women got from their mothers as young girls, and whether that advice helps or even applies in the real lives of real women and handling all that women do, every day, day in and day out. As adults, moms, wives, sisters, friends, lovers and professionals, we are expected to handle, juggle, balance, earn, nurture and be always-on-call caregivers.

Southern Fried White Trash is her first book. Written in her unique humorous style that has earned her a readership around the nation for her eclectic wit, the book is a collection of humorous but real life stories that have happened at weddings, funerals, and holidays and other family gatherings. Townsend writes in a style that sees the humor in situations and lets the reader know that it is OK to laugh at life's absurdities.

Carole Townsend is a 51-year-old wife, mother and journalist who grew up in Georgia, moving away only to go to college in Nashville and to live briefly in New York City after graduating. Her career path eventually led her to a prestigious position as Director of Marketing for an Atlanta-based consulting firm, but when her children hit middle school, Townsend decided that her efforts were needed more at home than in corporate America, and she launched her freelance writing career while raising her children full-time. She and her husband have four adult children and live in a suburb of Atlanta with their three rescue dogs; two Golden Retrievers and a Chihuahua.
