Generations have passed since humankind fell by their own hand.

Survivors remain in the New World, in human settlements, but are subject to attack by malevolent forces, hungry for resources both organic and technological in nature.

Petra isn't fully human. Like other nanotech cadets at the Academy, she was created to defend the human settlements of the Federation from its greatest enemy, the Opposition, whose brutal Ravagers have been weaponized into tireless killing machines.

Petra comes into contact with members of the Opposition on the battlefield, and is startled by her discovery.

Skin the color of pewter, eyes like gunmetal: nanotech.

Who are they, really? How are her kin her enemy? And more importantly, exactly who is she?

When the so called facts Petra has been fed her entire life are revealed to be unappetizing lies, it's hard for her to know who the heroes and villains of the New World truly are. She has more questions than answers, and can no longer trust the Federation.
In the New World, all things come with a cost - information being the most coveted commodity of all.

There is danger in even asking the questions that burn within her.

On her quest to uncover the truth about her origin, the strength Petra needs to draw upon isn't the nanotechnology in her flesh, but in the spirit of her humanity, and her will to survive.
