She stood over her father's body, a chill breeze pebbling her skin, and sliced open her palm with the knife, mingling her blood with her father's. She took a deep breath. "This I swear, by my own blood. I forsake all other vows. I forsake all other ties."

She was no longer a Rider. No longer a member of her tribe. Now she was just the woman who would avenge her father.
