I had felt like an idiot standing there in front of her desk, mesmerized by the sight of those stunning hazel eyes as her gaze rose to meet mine, unable to unglue my tongue from the roof of my mouth. And I had sounded like an even bigger idiot when the first words out of my mouth turned out to be 'Your name is Brooklyn?'.
Yet somehow the short conversation had still found a way to slide even further downhill from there, something that should not have been feasible. By the end of it, I had managed to slip and almost divulge the real reason I had been a stinking mess earlier that morning, to be rude to her yet again by brushing aside her questions, and to somehow offend her by making it clear that I had in no way been sexually harassing her.
