In this world, everyone has some kind of deformity or scar experienced during their journey called life. For in this world, a normal face is a face with scars. This story is about Mindy Thompson who was the only character without any physical scar, despite the emotional hardships she had been through. Living in Syria, she had experienced all sorts of feelings from happiness to sadness, excitement to disappointment, grief to sorrow to loss.
This book depicts Mindy's life as a rollercoaster of emotions. Even after losing her home, her friends and her Gran, she never gave up. She stood tall and faced all the problems with a smile. However, after years of being in Syria and the refugee camps, she finally reached home. She finally came back to her family; her parents and her brothers.
