"Vegetarianism and Occultism" is one of the theosophical manuals written by Charles Webster Leadbeater. Charles was a member of the Theosophical Society and author of books on occult subjects.

One of the objections often raised against vegetarianism is that it is a beautiful theory, but impractical, since it is assumed that a man cannot live without devouring "dead flesh". I myself am an example of the falsity of this premise, as I have lived without the contamination of meat - without red meat, fish or poultry - for the last thirty-eight years, and not only am I still alive, but during all this time I have enjoyed extraordinarily good health.

There are men and women who are morally of the highest class and yet eat like hyenas and wolves, because they have been taught that the diet necessary for their well-being is the carcass of a slaughtered animal.

It doesn't take much thought to realize that this horror cannot be the highest and purest. If we want our bodies to be clean, we must abandon this disgusting custom.

There are many personal reasons why we would stop eating meat - but there are altruistic and occult reasons too.

After reading this book you can be sure that you will be convinced that eating "carcasses" (meat) has only disadvantages.
