Silken Threads is a very good detective story. The point of the novel is its ingenious plot, and beside being ingenious it is entirely original, and certainly no higher praise can bestowed upon a story involving a well-developed mystery. The smallest hint as to what the "Silken Threads" were would reveal the whole motif of the book and we will not deny the pleasure of any prospective reader (The Book Buyer, 1885).
Harold Williams (1853-1926), was a US novelist. Silken Threads, and Mr. and Mrs. Morton appear to be his better-known books. The former one was written under the pseudonym George Afterem, and the latter was written anonymously. Little about Williams and his life is readily available.
