A small company, based in the swamps west of Boca Raton, Florida, was testing hi-tech designs for the military. The design mentioned in this story was a long-range sniper rifle capable of accurately hitting targets over a mile and a half away. The man performing the tests and training the military marksmen was Victor Flint.
On the surface, Vic was a naïve, innocent, unassuming man, but in reality, he was tough and unforgiving, somewhat vindictive. His military training left him lethal.
He, along with his partner at the company Susan MacDonald, possessed an internet search engine based on artificial intelligence programming, capable of penetrating any firewall including the Washington based alphabet soup agencies.
Learning of the power of this AI program, Senator Smart wanted control of it for selfish reasons. Believing SueMac and Vic stood in the way, the senator hired mercenaries to kill them.
Sent to Afghanistan to oversee the first combat test of the long-range rifle, Vic was to be an unfortunate casualty of war. Waiting were three rogue mercenaries with orders to kill him at the end of the mission.
