After her Great Aunt Helen is killed in a tragic barbeque explosion, Young Maddie Van der Wald inherits a huge mansion complete with rumors of ghosts and buried treasure on an isolated part of Catalina Island.
Her greedy cousin stands to inherit it all if she doesn't follow the terms of the will which forces her to remain on the island and forsake her life back in L.A.
She meets hot eco-activist Luke Garrett, but is plagued by legal problems, and demonstrators that force her to fight to keep her inheritance.
When she decides to erect a cell phone tower on part of her property the island residents turn against her, including her best friend Jojo.
Maddie wonders if her boat trip to this island was a trip to Hell. Her life has become a total mess but she's ready to fight for what is rightfully hers
