Finding a mystical portal and entering the Egyptian Afterlife, the companions find their private dreams their own worst enemies!

Sailing up the Nile, Karl, Eloise, and Roselyn seeks clues to the mystical portal's location. With the aid of Karl's squires, Nate and Phil, and Elaina, Eloise's mother, they're informed of a murderous Mad Hermit who alone knows the secret they seek. Helplessly they must enter the deadly Valley of Thieves.
Eloise and Roselyn's rivalry over Karl rekindles. The company breaks; none can triumph in a war between a Valkyrie and a Druid priestess.
Despite Sister Aspertine praying for their souls, they're captured by Alarika, the daughter of the Mad Hermit, Queen of the desert thieves. She leads them to the Valley of the Kings to find a lost prayer her dead father promised would awaken the Great Sphinx at Giza and open the portal they seek.
Trapped in the Egyptian Afterlife, the companions discover a wondrous paradise, the Field of Wheat, where each companion's dreams come true. Yet the dreams of each become the nightmares of the others, and their only hope lies with Alarika's dead father, the murderous Mad Hermit of the Valley of Thieves.
